Abstract Letterforms explores the relationship between typography and character design through the story of Luna, a whimsical girl who finds beauty in the unconventional. Her world is expressed through vibrant color and playful movement, inspiring letterforms that capture her curiosity and expressive personality. This project merges narrative and visual design, transforming typography into a celebration of individuality, imagination, and emotional storytelling.
This project began with designing a full set of abstract letterforms based on expressive shapes, exaggerated proportions, and playful visual rhythm. From the complete alphabet, I narrowed the collection to my strongest selections, then refined those into a final set of three letters. Each of these top forms was further developed through multiple iterations, focusing on stroke variation, personality, and balance. The final chosen letter became the foundation for Luna’s character, with her narrative built around the personality reflected in the design. The process included sketch exploration, form refinement, and experimentation with color and motion to align the typography with Luna’s imaginative world. All final artwork and compositions were developed using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
