Designed by Sound explores how music can be translated into visual form. Without viewing the original album artwork, I created a cover based solely on the emotional qualities of the song, interpreting rhythm, atmosphere, and energy through typography, color, composition, and image-making. Inspired by the futuristic, multidimensional sound of "The Scotts," the final design captures the track's intensity while demonstrating how graphic design can convey experiences beyond words.
The design process began by analyzing the song's rhythm, texture, and tonal shifts to identify visual elements that could communicate its energy and atmosphere. Multiple concepts were explored before refining the strongest direction into a cohesive composition that translates sound into image.
The final artwork was created entirely in Adobe Photoshop, using compositing, color grading, lighting effects, and perspective to create depth and motion. Every visual decision was guided by the music's emotional qualities, resulting in an expressive album cover that demonstrates how sound can inspire visual storytelling.
